Take-aways and fast food
« on: August 04, 2010, 02:20:39 PM »
It’s been a quiet day in the office and all of my co-workers decided to purchase take-aways for lunch. I already had sandwiches and declined, but after a while my stomach decided that was not the right choice.

Driving to the local McDonalds only takes a few minutes and luckily the lunch line was pretty short.

I was excited to “sit down” (in the car) and eat my lunchtime treat. Having gone a few months without it, it really was a treat.

When I finished the meal it was a different story.

The food was, of course, McDonalds through and through: the odd burger, salty chips and even a watered-down Coke. I love these things. I loved these things. …I used to love these things.

As far as I’m aware I seem to be growing out of take-aways and heading towards home-cooked meals. At my previous job I practically lived off of the Big Mac – those days it was R20 for the medium meal.

These days we’ll only have take-out if there’s no food in the house and we don’t feel like going shopping. That equates to once a month if I’m not mistaken; sometimes two.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing? I’m not just talking about McDonalds.

haha... I remember those perma fast-food days dude, and the envy that went with it. >_<

Similar thing on my end...
Not sure if it's cause of work (and thus less time to LAN), but I haven't eaten take-aways in a while. Definitely a lot less than when the guyz were free to drive around and chill for a bit - I don't eat fast-foods alone. :P

Will sustain on making a more solid judgement til I'm feeling better and got my appetite back - nothing's been tasting good for weeks now (referring to home-cooked or otherwise). T_T

Everynow and then I get that feeling. Sometimes I miss the good old pasta or my uncles famous cooking! :D

Remember homemade food is simply the way to go! ;)

Never been a big fast foodie of the KFC/MaccyDees type - sandwiches are cheaper on bugger-all budget.

However:

2 of my fave take-away wotsits are from a Pakistani place in Clairemont called Hot Stuff - awesome chicken in chili-chutney-sauce and roti plus spicy chips!

and...

the chinese place who's name I do not know, in (of all places!) Worcester - where my girlfriend lives - whose sweet 'n sour pork is several ages of awesome!

I'm so over take-aways! Had a Steers burger a couple of weeks ago, which was just gross (and I'm a Steers burger fan), and then the other day I had kfc - I died from all the grease!
