The Walking Dead issue 91 - bit of a slow issue, but its leading up to a new threat based on how it ended.

Blankets Craig Thompson's superb autobiographical graphic novel about his life with his brother, abusive father, and fundamentalist mother, and his first love - what it is to be with another person, and how he comes to the realization that religion is filled with flaws and contradictions. Its considerably more than 500 pages - I read it in one evening, its such a compelling read. A real masterpiece!

On the back of "Blankets", I also read Craig Thompson's first graphic novel Goodbye Chunky Rice. A fair work, dealing with loss and friendship, but a bit clunky, not as polished as Blankets. But, to be fair, this is his first work, so...

I find it very difficult not to finish a graphical novel in a single sitting unless I have somewhere to go. The way they out together just keeps you turning the page unlike plain text novels.

^ Forgot about that fact, since I only read plain text novels.

If its a gripping story, I really can't put 'em down. Depending on how text heavy they are also makes a difference. I still love to read "normal" books - but I don't have as much free time as I used to. I can get through GNs much quicker, the stories are as good or even better, and anyway, I'm playing a bit of catch-up for all the years I never had access to GNs  :).

Life Sucks - especially if you're a vampire created by your master as a wage slave to work in his convenience store. Vamps, Goths, douchebags and minimum wage - A light, quick read, which I enjoyed way more than I expected to.

Herogasm - a spinoff from "The Boys" (which I haven't read yet). The superheroes of the world get a yearly dose of debauchery at a secret location on the taxpayers dime. Intermixed with this is a plot to replace the president of the US with the severely retarded vice-president - a man owned totally by corporate sponsors. A pretty raunchy tale, but with very little going for it overall. The naughtiness gets old after a few pages, and the political machinations are both boring and confusing. Meh.

The Helm - a fat loser living in his mother's basement steals an old helmet from a garage sale. Turns out the helm may have supernatural powers and can turn a man into a great warrior to fight the forces of darkness. Or is this all a delusion brought on by too many D&D sessions? (4 issues).

The Nikopol Trilogy by Enki Bilal, is a superb work set in a near future, where years of war has devolved modern civilisation into a group of city states. Humans and aliens co-exist in a nasty brutal world. Enter Alcide Nikopol, sentenced to exile in space, his cryo-prison pod has returned to Earth, just in time for him to be caught up in the machinations of the alien god-being, Horus, in a world that is no longer familiar to him.

100 Bullets - What would you do if given a chance at revenge, no strings attached, no interference from law enforcement, no repercussions at all? This is the option the mysterious Agent Graves offers to people who's lives may have taken a differant course, but for the intervention of another. A gun, 100 bullets, evidence... and a choice...

Appropriately, there's 100 issues - I'm up to 8 so far.

100 Bullets is a good read, I've read the first volume but I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Walking Dead - 92

100 Bullets - 15

Keepers of the Maser (7 volumes) - wonderful, Nausicaa-like story set on a planet ravaged by the Dwarf War, where tech is battered and broken, strange creatures fly, crawl, and wiggle, and a group of rather odd characters set out to try uncover the secrets of the Great Tower. Love it!

100 Bullets - up to issue 23.

Lobo - the most insane, psychotic, raving, indestructable, lunatic, perverted bounty hunter in the 'verse. Wiped out his entire species with a bio-weapon so he could claim to be "the last Czarnian". Death and destruction follow in his wake... crazy, crazy stuff, but rather awesome :D.

So far have read:-

The Last Czarnian, Lobo 00, Lobocop, Judge Dredd vs Lobo, Lobo's Big Babe Spring Break Special.

After the usual interminable wait, got my copy of Charley's War Volume 8 - Hitler's Youth, which, as you've probably gathered, details some of the part a certain Corporal Adolf Hitler played in the First World War.
