Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
Caught it tonight at Cresta. Was way, way better than I could have hoped - far surpassing the prequel. Was awesome seeing a lot more of the slow-mo scenes I liked so much in the 1st one. :P Sadly, a lot of the great scenes were shown in the trailer, leaving very few surprises in the actual movie - it's a curse of mine, loving to watch trailers. >_< lol

GANTZ - Perfect Answer

I dunno what to say? Couldn't decide if it was good or just better by default.

It was a new story to me as I haven't read the manga and it goes way past the anime. It's still heavily censored (having scenes cut and not actual censoring) though. It does have a good concise ending which I don't know if its correct as per the manga or not but I was satisfied with it.

The story is heavy and fast moving though so its easy to get lost in it. I assume those with knowledge of the manga would enjoy it more.

Flypaper - if you're looking for a good comedy-drama heist movie, this is well worth a look. Funny stuff  :).

^ Looking forward to it. Saw my bro watching it and it looked epically funny.

The Adventures of Tintin (2D)
OMW! This movie totally owned. Way better than I could have hoped. I was laughing my ass off most of the time. Was hoping to catch it in 3D but the rest of the guyz weren't keen - but that didn't take anything away from the awesome exp.

Johnny English: Reborn
Sadly the behind the scenes gave so much away, there wasn't really anything left to be surprised about. Didn't help that we missed the start cause peeps were still chowing at the sushi shop when we should have been back at the cinema. T_T It definitely had it's moments though, Rowan Atkinson still brings it. ;)

Abduction
A lil questionable at times, but still a fun watch. I'm a huge Jacob-fan so it was cool catching him in action kicking ass. hehe. :P

Flypaper
Had to watch it asap after BB's recommendation. hehe. Loved it to bits, and loved that they managed to keep me guessing all the way through. My fav was the ending, just what I was hoping for. ;)

I'm totally in agreement with Neon on this one! It was awesome. Stunning animation, and a brilliant interpretation of the Tintin stories capturing their essence to a "T". It did throw me a bit at first as I'm very familiar with "The Secret of the Unicorn" and "Red Rackham's Treasure" on which the film is mostly based, but elements from "The Castafiore Emerald", and "The Crab with the Golden Claws" are also present, but remixed, reworked and tossed out in a wonderful blend :D!!!

The Thing - both a remake and a prequel. I've heard some moaning about this, but I quite enjoyed it.

Black Death - grim medieval period/horror movie set during the time of the great plague. Not overly creepy, but well made and acted.

Contagion - superb drama film that shows the effects the modern world has on the spread of viruses, and how misinformation and panic can be just as deadly - no zombies though  ;).

Short Circuit - very old school this, but a fun watch. Interesting to think how many robots are now actually used on the modern battlefield. A re-make is on the way I hear.

^ Oh man, a Short Circuit remake would be really awesome!

Real Steel
Gotta admit, Jackman's character was a real doos in the beginning which meant a rocky start. :P lol. But once the kiddie came into the picture, it only got better. Not what I was expecting, but still a fantastic watch.

^ Agreed.

Dinner for Schmucks - oddish drama-comedy thing, where a guy trying to make his way up the corporate ladder, gets invited to a dinner party with his boss. Catch is, he has to find a total idiot to bring with so they can make fun of him.
Kinda so-so.

Valhalla Rising - surreal, stunningly filmed movie about a group of christian Vikings who accidentally land up on American soil after being lost in a great mist. Quite gory, and more than a little weird. You need to do a bit of thinking to keep up with what's going on.

Underworld: Awakening (3D)
OMW! This movie was kak. X_x My buds told me it would be and yet I forced them to join me.  It had way too many over-the-top-gory fight scenes, min story and was uber short. The only highlight was some of the 3D stuff. :/ Stay away!

The Human Centipede II - I saw the first one, so figured I'd see what II was like, especially after all the hoopla - banned, cut etc. etc. Well, despite the director's protests that its actually a political alegory and wotnot, frankly I think that's just BS. There's no value to this film artistic or otherwise - it's made to be gross and shocking and piss people off. You'll need a VERY strong stomach if you decide to watch this one.

Basically a freaky little man with an obsession over the first film, kidnaps, brutalizes and murders a dozen people (including one of the actresses from movie 1) in an attempt to make a 12 person human centipede. Cue heads getting bashed in, un-sterile surgery, laxatives, throats slit etc. Ho-hum.

Plot holes you could drive a freight train through abound - but who cares, this is all about the torture... Oh, and it's all in black and white, so must be arty, and therefore alright... yeah... noooooo.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1
Finally got to see it last night. Not as awesome as I thought it would be after all this waiting. :/ And it seems there's a scene at the end which I missed - had to dash off to jam some DotA. xD Will catch it tonight though.

Fortress - so-so direct-to-dvd movie set in the relatively unusual period between the fall of North Africa, and the invasion of Italy during WW2. The USAAF are bombing targets in Italy from bases in Tunisia at this time - this is the setting for this film.

It's good enough for a one off watch - acting is passable, and the battle sequences, with good quality CGI, are quite well done - but it's nothing like as good as "Memphis Belle" (which, to be fair, had a vastly bigger budget and quality cast) or "Fly Boys".

Stardust
Caught the HD version last night. Almost brought a tear to my eye. Was as epically awesome as I remember it. Am over the moon to finally have it in my collection. Off to listen to the OST all day. xD lol
