Level E
My initial expectations for this show (although I'll be honest, they were based a on a single promo picture) was that Level E would be a confusing sci-fi drama/thriller. I was somewhat optimistic. I was wrong, it is not a sci-fi drama/thriller, its better!
To my great surprize its more like an anime version of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or Men In Black, a sci-fi comedy. Can you hear how much I'm smiling, 'coz I am?
The narrator tells us that earth is not inhabited only by humans but by many other alien races as well. The only thing is that we humans are the only ones who are unaware about all this intergalatic tourism.
The main characters are Yukitaka Tsutsui, a baseball prodigy who has just moved into town and a blond-haired alien whose name if the translations are to be believed is Baka.
The first episode chronicles how Baka convinces Yukitaka that he is indeed an alien, Yukitaka refuses to believe this until he finally sees a news report about an unnidentified crash landing nearby. Baka also manages to explain that he has lost his memory.

Level E
The show is very funny, especially the conversations between Yukitaka and Baka. Yukitaka is so dry I can't help but laugh. Now that I'm thinking about it, they covered alot of content these first two episodes but it never seemed as such, thats a good sign in my opinion.
The animation style fits nicely in between trying to be ultra realistic and very cartoony, they also like to mix it up a bit throwing in some stunning CG every now and then (the puppet scene was my favorite). This style works well and shows off the contrast between the clash of alien life with human life.
And I'd deserve a slap in the face if I didn't mention the totally awesome OP. A catchy tune with some great animation. Unlike the show itself, the OP makes use of lots of different colour and out of cantext images. It kind of reminds of some of Bleaches earlier OP's.
This seems to be a great show, which I would highly recommend to anybody looking for a quirky comedy or just a good laugh.
