Top 10 Anime Movies

Often on my long trawls of the interwebs I come across many top 10/20 lists for anime/movies/etc. Most of these are by foreign magazines or websites though, so I was interested in what a South African list would look like. For starters lets just focus on anime movies as series would be probably too much of a beast for most to handle and/or quantify.

Its a simple concept really but it does require some audience participation. All you have to do is:

• Post a list of your top anime movies.
• Your list should be a minimum of 5 movies
• and maximum of 20 movies
• List them in order.
• You may edit your list
• List only anime movies, no series
• Anime movie = Animated feature length film from Japan

To get you started, here is the list I found on the internets. The list was published in Japan’s top cinema magazine Kinema Junpo and compiled by 67 top panelists.

This a project that I already started on Genshiken.UCT and the response has been a bit slow, but that was expected. So now I'm extending the project to LO Mag for those interested. You can all post your lists here and I will check up from time to time and update any additions.

So yeah, I will update the opening post with an Official Top 10 once an appropiate number of list have been posted. If more clarification is needed dont hesitate to ask.

If you feel that you need/want to justify/motivate your choice feel free to do that. Remember this is not only to hype your favorite movie but rather to promote discussion and introduce others to movies they may not have heard of seen before.

A bigger update this time. Mononoke & Ghost in the Shell hold firm on top while Grave of the Fire Flies drops out of the top 10, being replaced by Paprika.
