Resurgence of Fighting Games

Pretty good a funny video about the Resurgence of the fighting game genre and whats still to come.

It's actually crazy when you stop and think just how many fighters have been release since the beginning of 2009.

It started in 2008 with the release of SFIV which was then closely followed by the EU release of Battle Fantasia. A few months later we got the king of console fighter *hehe* Blazblue Calamity Trigger and then the dissapointing but still quite enjoyable King of Fighters XII. Which was then followed by the terrible Tekken 6 * flame away :p *

We of course also got a brand new redone in HD Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and a re-release of Marvel vs Capcom 2 with online support.

There has also been quite a few older PS1 games popping up on LIVE and PSN such as Guilty Gear, Darkstalkers, King of Fighters SF Alpha etc.

Even the PS2 got some extra love with the PS2 release of The King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, Melty Blood: Actress Again and

Yes that was just for 2009 :p

On to 2010 we got to start the year with a bang as Tatsunoko vs Capcom was released on Wii which I am sure impressed pretty much everyone who has played the game, we then went on to a rather late arrival by SSFIV, just a year after the first release. A few months later we got to see the new release of Blazblue Continuum Shift as well as the revamped King Of Fighters 2002 Tougeki Edition for PS2. also the release of Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is coming up, a different pace for from most other fighting game fans and one that is sure to lure more people towards it.

And the year is still not done :)

Now what do we have to look forward to you might say? first off we have the release of Arcana Heart 3 in Q4 of 2010, A new DLC character for the newely released Blazblue Continuum Shift as well as an arcade release of SSFIV with new characters, giving console users lots of hope for new DLC content.

Then moving in to the new year we will have the releases of the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat as well as the infinitely anticipated sequel to one of the best cross-over titles created Marvel vs Capcom 3. Also expected sometime in 2011 is the release of King Of Fighters XIII which seems to be a huge improvement over KOF XII.

Even in to 2012 we have word that a game no one really expected to ever be made will be gracing our TV screens, Street Fighter X Tekken, which is then going to be followed by Tekken X Street Fighter.

Now I know I may have missed a few titles but if you still don't quite understand whats happening, basically it means fighters are taking over the gaming world and your shelf will have lots of new titles on it. So get into gear and starting getting into the genre, your falling behind :p
