Just curious :)

Since i'm a collector of anime (although not as much as i'd like, as i'm sure most people can empathise with me on this :p ) and even though i've only collected a small amount of various series, i'm running out of space o_o I've come to prefer the Thinpak editions as the discs don't seem to come loose as often as the normal-sized DVD casing and in the rare case when i do have money, i like to collect the Special Edition Boxsets ^^

I rarely, if ever, collect single DVD's, unless they're movies :)

Thinpack for me too. they take up less space and if they're those fold out one, they so look so cool. 8)

Def thin pak ... ;) the norm 1 just too big....though the big ones come with a very thick box cover aswell for protection.

I quite like the thinpacks, else the boxes that have multiple discs packed on double-side inserty things (does anyone understand what I mean  ???). I'll only buy singles for movies as its usually more expensive to buy series DVDs one at a time.

Totally understand ;) They're starting to do that with more and more boxset now, even some Movie special editions that contain OSTs, like the GITS:SAC Solid State Society :O

The only "company" that doesn't do the double-layering-of-disc-thing is Ghibli, the American ones still come on seperate plastic sheet things ... which i personally abhor >< As they always break or the disc comes loose :(

I HATE when discs come loose due to silly package design >(

I  can’t afford to buy the single disk releases, it took me a number of years to collect the entire  Chobits and Kiddy grade series. You know what’s funny about that, it work a lot cheaper buying the boxsets than the individual releases.

One of the loveliest boxsets I’ve seen is the Basilisk boxset, that  little bow/ribbon makes it looks so cute.

ADV and Bandai sometimes release  their boxsets in  the so called “brick” format. Sometimes if the “spine”  of boxset receives a hard blow segments can somehow be dislodged and the entire thing could fall apart.
Here’s  an example of  what happened to  my Nadia: The  Secret of Blue Water  Collection 1

Funimation’s Viridian releases might be designed from recycled  material but it sure is  a pain to remove my Kiddy Grade disks from their box without scratching the disks.

I’m torn between the  Boxset-Individual DVD Casing   and Boxset-Thinpack DVD Casing
The Boxset-Individual DVD Casing looks nice and in the past   extras were removed from the Boxset-Thinpack DVD Casing sets. In the end, the Boxset-Thinpack DVD Casing sets work out much cheaper though.

@ Ahzure - I know what you mean. I started buying individual Planetes DVDs, but ended up buying the collection set as it was half the price that buying the rest of the individual discs would have cost.

I like the thinpacks mainly cos they save a lot of space - about 3 taking up the same space as a normal DVD box.

These days even more so it is become rediculous to buy indivdual discs. Yes they come out much faster now but its just not worth it with as little as 2 eps per disc.

The complete sets also seem to come with better extras.

I guess  that it is a good thing  that the cover art  is included  with certain  thinpacks. I’ve seen a number of titles where the individual disk cover art was not included due to the fact that all the disks were housed in one container, think back to those ADV bricks.

For some reason I’ve come to enjoy the reversible cover option of certain titles.

@Ahzure. Loving your Bleach Boxset. The art is pretty good.

think back to those ADV bricks.

I get what you saying since I got a couple Boxsets from ADV films and there art and package was simply great. Its a pity ADV Films is discontinued though and they lost alot of Anime rights and it was bought by Funimation. At least they back just with a new name called Sentai Filmworks and they starting to licensed some of the latest shows and they even dubing some of the old shows that was never dubbed.

For some reason I’ve come to enjoy the reversible cover option of certain titles.

I also do. I only seen is Z4 boxsets does that. Barely seen on the Z1 version though.

Need to my Naruto Boxset since I just need 3 more left.
