Cutting down the gaming time and how to do it?
« on: May 27, 2010, 07:26:45 PM »
After much consideration it's time for me to start cutting out some of my gaming systems. Today I examined my list of unplayed games and decided that there are just too many and there isn't enough time for all of them. Hell this is no longer high school.

What I've decided to do is cut out the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii. I may play them on occasion, but will never take them seriously (I don't mean that in a bad way).

Both my Xbox360 and PC have multiple titles that require accomplishment; finishing only the story and not 100% completion.

Here's my Steam list - this excludes boxed PC games:
  • Aliens versus Predator Classic (2000)
  • The Dig
  • F.E.A.R.
  • F.E.A.R. Extraction Point
  • F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate
  • Half-Life 2
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 1
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 2
  • Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
  • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
  • LOOM
  • SiN: Episode 1
  • Torchlight
  • Tropico 3
  • WarHammer: Dawn of War II + Chaos Rising Expansion Pack

How does everyone else cope with the gaming habits given that the majority of us watch anime, TV shows, read, etc.

Owing to a sucky PC (graphics card) I've managed to cut out my PC gaming. Only play Xbox360 now. Admittingly I havent given up Football Manager, but its in regression though.

My anime taste has become rather stingy of late, not much stuff maintains my attention, so it allows me to balance out Xbox & anime rather nicely.

^ Sorta opposite for me as I've been neglecting games of late for live-action series (and a bit of anime now and then).

Started up BioShock 2 recently and only got in like an hour in total (sessions of 15-20 mins). ::) Just not in the mood to game for some reason. Guess once I'm done with series and there's nothing left, I'll get back to gaming. :P

Finish the game you have then buy another one, simple as that. Don't see the point in buying more than one game at a time and then continue to do so when you aren't completing the one's you already have, why waste money.

Game sales  ;D

EDIT: I do want to add that I don't buy any and all games. There are a select few that I want and I monitor different shops for when a game is on sale - can't afford full priced games at over R350 a pop (PC). If there's a game on sale that isn't on my list I do A LOT of research and put a lot of though in to see if I'll enjoy the game and play it.

I second that!  ;D

In between I if I got my work and projects upto date at least I can play for a couple hours and such. Mostly weekends and holidays I got some decent time to play but theres days theses just too many great games coming out month by month its crazy!  :o
