Marvel vs Capcom 3
« on: April 19, 2010, 08:51:49 AM »
PlanetXbox360 has just confirmed that Marvel vs Capcom 3 was indeed shown at Capcoms Captivate in Hawai. There is a press embargo on information, so sreens, vids and other stuff will only appear later in the week.

What is know is the following:

Full 1080p
It will be disc based
Confirmed characters are, Hulk, Magneto, Spider-man and Wolverine
Game will be playable at E3 2010
Game will have unlockables
PS3 and 360, no other plans for other systems
Game will be somewhat 2D based, it appears to be a mixture of SFIV and MV2
Game will play like a 2D fighter

Also the develpment team said they are going to blow us out of the water with the sheer amount of characters in this game.

Also word around the net is:

Colossus, Iron Man, Juggernaut, Shuma Gorath, Sentinel, Storm, Magneto and Wolverine are present in Marvel side!!!

And

Sakura, Roll, Servbot, T.Bonne, Hsien-Ko, Zero, Chris Redfield and Dante are in for Capcom side!!

Battles are still 3V3, there are giant characters and the graphics are apparently amazing resembling cell shading.

check out the last little moments of the vid when Ryu does his super, it's like an exact duplicate of TvC just in HD and more detail. This is going to be amazing, loved the little Morrigan/Iron Man part.

And Chris Redfield damn can't have him without Jill

Read up on 1 and 2, but never played them. Will def pick this up even though I pretty much suck at fighting games :D

Personally I'd love to also have a few different incarnations of MegaMan, as well as including Dante - but that's just me.

They fun if you don't take them seriously, the games are so overbalanced with certain characters that if you taking it seriously will just annoy you :p

Hopefully they work on this, cause it seems that this will have even more characters than MvC2 did.

Also loving the TvC style, this looks to be like a HD version of TvC

• The game is set for a spring 2011 release date on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

• Right now the development team is looking at having about 30 characters — or so — in the roster.

• Seth Killian said that fans can expect "a healthy dose of new blood" when it comes to fighter selection.

• It's a 3-on-3 tag team fighting game, players build their own squads and uses Assists as well. Very similar to MvC2.

• The title uses an advanced version of Capcom's MT Framework, which powered Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2.

• MvC3 has aerial combos, hyper combos and other original gameplay systems.

• The game is officially titled Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds.

• The goal is to get 100 pieces of music in the game, that includes old favorites, new tracks and remixes. The 'Take You For A Ride' song won't be returning, at least, it's not planned right now.

• There are no plans for an arcade, PC or Wii version.

• The team behind this wants this game to have a strong storyline.

• Development started on MvC3 in the summer of 2008.

• MvC3 is using the Tatsunoko vs. Capcom scheme to be more accessible, but will retain stuff like Hyper Combo cancels, Snapbacks and assists.

• The game will have the alpha, beta and gamma assist types, just like in Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

• MvC3 aims to knock down the wall of complicated controls and open up the field of strategic fighting to all comers. This means fusing the accessible controls of TvC with tried and true MVC2 gameplay.

• The game has simplified launch attacks which are universally performed with one button, the Exchange button. This can also be pressed along with certain directions to slam opponents into the ground, leaving them susceptible to combos. Players can also hit the Exchange button in midair to tag in other team members on the fly. You can also counter exchange moves by guessing the correct exchange move to input at the same time as your opponent.

• Deadpool's teleportation device will comically malfunction if you spam his teleport move. Also, he breaks the fourth wall by beating his opponents with his health bar.

• Chris Redfield uses his weapons from Resident Evil 5, his shotgun and the "shock stick."

• Moves from the previous games seemed to have been retained. Wolverine and Hulks' Supers are shown.

Does this mean we can go back to the normal "down back down" method of executing moves and none of this crazy swooping/zigzag analog motions? (please? :-\)

This sounds cool.

If it's the same as TvC then the combo's will be simple and pretty much the same as MvC2, there will always be zigzag motions in games for things such as the Dragon Punch.

• If you were disappointed that you didn't see certain no-brainer Capcom characters in Tatsunoko vs Capcom for the Wii, don't give up hope. Niitsuma confirmed that big characters like Dante were saved from Tatsunoko for Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

• MvC3's characters were all created from scratch — you won't see recycled character models.

• A sort of cross-over aerial rave can be performed, where you can safely change your character in the middle of an air combo, using the exchange button.

• The flow of combat is just as intense and hectic as MvC2.

• The game is currently using TvC's style Light, Medium, and Hard attacks along with the Exchange button.

• Story mode is being slightly improved, with beginning and ending story bookends, along with in-game events to keep it fresh in players' minds. Producer Ryota Niitsuma insists that though this story is better than in other MvC games, it doesn't steal the spotlight from the action.

• MvC2's cast recycled 15 years of backlog and that's a large reason why it had such a big cast. The Morrigan you saw in 1994's Darkstalkers was basically what you saw in 2000's MvC2.

• Capcom is paying a very large attention to detail to make sure all the characters are very in-character and act like themselves.

• Game Informer raved about the graphics for a good paragraph, apparently lighting is superb and Iron Man's armor has reflections.

• Game Informer seemed very impressed with how Dante was represented in the game. "His cockiness and bravado shines through in every action, doing the white-haired badass justice."

• Backgrounds will be lively. J Jonah Jameson is in a helicopter in the background of the Daily Bugle stage shouting and pointing at the players. There's also a parade in the background that has huge air balloons of characters like Spider-Man and Viewtiful Joe. Servbots and Tron Bonne in the background of the Megaman Legends stage.

A bit annoyed that it seems Morrigan and Ryu will be straight rips from TvC, hopefully they tweak the supers cause Morrigans Finishing Shower super was horribly slow and only good for chip damage, they should of replaced it with Soul Eraser.
